What is wrong with people who have to constantly validate themselves in the world? There's a woman I work with who always turns the conversation around herself. You could be talking to someone else about your Thanksgiving holiday and then she will include herself and say, 'Well, at my Thanksgiving..." She does this constantly. She puts her 2 cents into every conversation...however, she couldn't say much about Hawaii...but she changed the subject to bring it around to herself.

Then there's this other woman that was just hired, and she too has to talk about herself. She has told me several times already about how she will be completing her masters next year. She brought this up during my conversation with the couselor about a student. Turned the whole conversation around to her and what she was doing, but then she said, "Sorry to butt into your conversation." No you weren't, you self-absorbed bitch! I had to get out of the office as soon as possible because she started telling the counselor about her master's program.

The following article caught my eye and would be a welcomed alternative in the public school system.

Conn. Students Get Fines for Cursing
Thursday, December 01, 2005

HARTFORD, Conn. — Bad words are costing some students in Connecticut, $103 each.

Police officers assigned to Hartford Public and Bulkeley high schools have fined about two dozen students for cursing in a new program to curtail unruly behavior. The joint effort by school and police officials targets students who swear while defying teachers and administrators.

"We're sending a message to the parents and to the teachers," said Sandy Cruz-Serrano, senior adviser to Superintendent of Schools Robert Henry. "We are trying to bring back order to the schools."

Parents are required to pay the fines if the students cannot.
