HONOLULU, Hawaii (AP) -- Fox television's Oahu-based drama series "North Shore" has been canceled, officials said.

Producer Harry Bring said he was told Wednesday that the network will not renew the hotel drama, which shut down in December two episodes short of its planned 22-episode season.

"There was no reason given yet," he said. "I don't know if it was cost, ratings or whatever."

He doesn't know? Obviously stupidity could be a reason. White cast and very white hotel combined, have nothing to do with the North Shore, much less Hawaii. Maybe the fact that there were never any real Hawaiians or Asians on the show, or that the story lines were about as white as mayonnaise. With the exception of the name and the name of the hotel, the show could have been anywhere tropical...Florida, Puerto Rico, or Mexico. I tried to give it a chance. I liked the show "Hawaii" better because the stories revolved around locals and real locations. Obviously, the producers/creators of "North Shore" had never been to a real Hawaiian hotel. One thing this show did depict well, white people coming to the islands and trying to take it over.
